SUBMISSION
We invite submissions that showcase current research, innovation, and clinical experience in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology from across the Nordic region. The NSCMID 2026 conference aims to bring together colleagues to strengthen Nordic collaboration, facilitate knowledge exchange, and highlight new scientific insights.
Abstracts may address any topic within microbiology and infectious diseases, including basic and clinical research, implementation projects, methodological advances, and quality improvement initiatives.
Abstracts must contain previously unpublished data. Abstracts that are under consideration for publication in scientific journals at the time of submission will be accepted for presentation at the congress.

Submission Guideline
Word Limit
- The abstract text, must not exceed 300 words
Language:
- Abstracts and posters must be in English, the official language of the conference.
Title:
- The title should be concise and follow scientific conventions.
- Avoid brand names in the title.
- Maximum legth: 150 characters
Figures/Tables:
- A maximum of one (1) figure graph, or table may be included, placed
after the text.
Scientific Names and Abbreviations:
- Genus and species names should be spelled out fully on the first mention
and abbreviated subsequently. Use italicization where appropriate. - Abbreviations are allowed but must be clearly defined.
Author Information:
- Ensure all author names and affiliations are correct upon submission.
- Clearly indicate the submitting author.
Poster presentation dimension:
- Accepted posters should fit the designated display boards (vertical format, with an maximal size of 700 (width) x 900 (height) mm).
Oral presentation duration:
- 15 mins is sceduled for each oral presentation incl. questions.
Evaluation and Presentation
All submitted abstracts will undergo evaluation by the NSCMID 2026 Organising Committee, which will also decide on the most appropriate presentation format: oral or poster.
Oral presentation:
A dedicated session, Invited Early Career Scientists, will highlight selected contributions from early career researchers, including medical students, resident doctors, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers. Five abstracts will be chosen—one from each Nordic country—and the selected authors will be invited to present their work orally on Saturday, August 29.
Poster presentation:
Accepted posters will be exhibited during the conference. In addition, scheduled poster session(s) will offer authors the opportunity to present their research and engage in discussion with participants.
Notification:
Notifications of acceptance or rejection of the abstracts will be sent by email to the presenting author by May 22nd 2026.
